The push-pull switch is provided with a plug (10) which can be displaced in a straight line between a neutral position, a pressed-in position and a pulled-out position. Said plug acts on a deflecting device (22) which is displaced with the plug (10) between the corresponding positions and, at the same time, operates switch contacts. The deflecting device (22) is displaced in a plane which lies between the switch contacts and the plug (10). In order that the structural size of the switch can be reduced to the grid size which is nowadays normal for switch panels, it is provided to arrange the plane (26) at right angles to the movement direction of the plug (10). <IMAGE>
