PURPOSE:A carcinostatic substance obtained from a culture of a specific strain belonging to the genus Pseudomonas. CONSTITUTION:Pseudomonas sp. YM-3229G (FERM-P 6167) is subjected to aerated spinner culture at 27-28 deg.C in about 5.5-8.5pH for 2-10 days, the mold is removed from the culture solution to give a solution from which a bacterium is removed and this solution is treated, to give a carcinostatic substance (name; YM 3229G). Physical and chemical properties of the carcinostatic substance. (1) Shape: white powder, (2) melting point: unclear, slightly changing yellow at 145 deg.C, securely changing yellow at 180-190 deg.C, (3) values of elementary analysis: C=38.55, H=5.95, N=0.63, (4) infrared absorption spectrum, as shown in the fig., (5) color reaction: + in orcinal-ferric chloride-hydrochloric acid reaction; + in anthrone reaction, - in Folin-Lowry reaction and - un Elson-Morgan reaction, (6) solubility: soluble in water, insoluble in organic solvents, etc. |
