On extension of a gall bladder operation as a consequence of stones in the duodenal papilla there are frequently difficulties with the papillotomy (opening of the duodenal papilla). A rigid metal tube is currently used and is associated with a high complication rate. This led to the invention of a new type of papillotomy catheter. This consists of a soft balloon catheter with a special cone for the incision of the papilla. A coloured mark makes it easy to align this cone. Safe papillotomy is made possible by the catheter. It is to be made available as disposable catheter in three sizes. It is then used in abdominal surgery. Further information is to be found in the detailed description.
