A handle for attachment to an, in particular tubular, rod, namely a steering bar handle for two-wheeled vehicles is to be designed in an ergonomically favourable way in order to prevent cramp and fatigue phenomena in the hand; it is also to be easy to grip and to prevent perspiration of the hand and inner surfaces of the fingers, to be suitable for a large number of hands of different widths and to have a grip-side alignment aid for the correctly positioned grasping of the device equipped with it. This is achieved essentially according to the invention by virtue of the fact that the cross-sectional sheath end of the handle body on the one side of the longitudinal axis of the longitudinal bore is at an increased distance from said bore and that a multiplicity of transverse bores are arranged within the excentric area formed in this way, the axes of which bores extend transversely with respect to the longitudinal axis of the longitudinal bore and which are separated from one another by webs which are very thin in relation to the length of the transverse bores. In accordance with a preferred embodiment, the cross-sectional sheath end of the handle body essentially has an approximate egg-shaped contour in whose tip the transverse bores are situated.
