REMOVAL OF INTERFERENTS IN ANALYTICAL ASSAYS IN A TWO PHASE INTERFERENT-REMOVAL ZONE Novel elements for the analysis of liquids which contain interferents for an analyte assay are described. Interference is reduced in multizone elements by the presence of an interferent-removing zone between the point of introduction of the liquid and the assay-indicator zone wherein the interferent-removing zone comprises a discontinuous phase within a continuous phase. An interferentremoving material is present in the discontinuous phase and the continuous phase is permeable to the analyte, its products and/or the liquid being analyzed.
