PURPOSE:To seal a shaft effectively for a long time, by forming a sealant reserving section in the form of a circumferential groove around the inner surface of the section where a pair of annular lips are formed in a bifurcated manner. CONSTITUTION:A sealing section 7 of a sheet rubber is formed with an opening 8 through which a shaft 3 is extended, and a pair of tapered annular lips 9, 9 are extended on the opposite sides of the opening 8. Further, a sealant reserving section 11, for instance, in the form of a circumferential groove having a substantially semi-circular cross section is formed around the inner surface of the part where the two lips 9, 9 are formed in a bifurcated manner. By employing such an arrangement, the amount of a sealant 10 such as grease charged in a hollow space between the outer surface of the shaft 3 and the annular lips 9, 9 can be increased correspondingly. Therefore, it is enabled to pre-charge a large amount of sealant 10 in the space defined on the inside of the annular lips 9, 9. |
