PURPOSE:To facilitate an adjustment of a phase locking circuit and to improve its handling range by bringing a selector for characteristic selection under the automatic control of a central processing unit. CONSTITUTION:One of terminals 18-28 for characteristic selection is selected by a selector 13 for phase locking characteristic selection. Actually, a magnetic recording device 12 is operated to read data and in this case, the terminal 18 is selected firstly by the selector 13. Normally, when reading operation is performed while the terminal 18 is selected, or when a readout error occurs, a CPU10 controls the selector 13, which selects the succeeding terminal 19 to retry the reading operation. Thus, every time an error occurs, a succeeding terminal is selected successively. Backward selection is also possible. |
