<p>Geotextile matting for civil engineering applications to stabilise soil or provide acoustic and/or mechanical damping is woven from strips of tufted carpet fabric cross woven with either other strips of carpet fabric or with textile cords, the cords being in either the warp or weft directions. Periodically, the cords may provide terminal loops for anchoring the matting. Permeable to water but not sand or gravel and combines high tear strength and elasticity for stabilising loose soil for traffic movement, or for an intermediate layer in foundations etc. Pref. the strips are cut longitudinally from tufted carpet made on shuttle-free looms.</p> |
