PURPOSE:To prevent foreign objects such as pebbles and sea weed fibers, etc. from infiltrating by arranging a coil-like screen at the aperture section of a water absorption passage in an outboard engine introducing the external water by a water pump. CONSTITUTION:The water absorption passage 23 of an outboard engine introducing the external water by a water pump is provided in a casing 16, and a coil- like screen 27 is fitted at the aperture section 25 with the tip supported by the tapered shoulder section 29 of the casing 16 and with the base pushed in by a cap 30. The coil-like screen 27 is formed by winding an element wire with the thickness H in the coil axial direction smaller than the width B in the coil radial direction into a coil shape. According to this onstitution, even if shock forces such as shown by arrows F1, F2 are applied to the outside of the screen, they are absorbed without deforming or destroying the screen, and sea weed fibers and the like can be flowed in the winding direction. |
