摘要 PURPOSE:To measure the length of the effective part of a moving hot rolling thick plate with a high precision, by picking up images of the leading edge and the trailing edge of the length of the effective part on a television and subjecting video signals to the picture processing and discriminating the leading edge and the trailing edge by the comparison with breadthwise dimensions of the plate material. CONSTITUTION:The video signal of a television camera 2 above a moving hot rolling thick plate 1 is inputted from a controller 3 to a picture data processing device 5 through a waveform shaping circuit 4, and the output of a speedometer 6 is inputted to an operating device 7. A video signal Vi of the i-th horizontal scanning line Hi of the picked-up picture is specified, and a time Ti of the white level is counted by clock pulses. The leading edge of the thick plate 1 is discriminated when the counted value of the time Ti is equal to or larger than a value Tw corresponding to a width W, and the trailing edge is discriminated when it is equal to or smaller than the value Tw, and results are outputted to the operating device 7. In the device 7, an effective length is calculated in accordance with a prescribed arithmetic expression by these inputs and the output of the speedometer 6. Thus, the length of the moving thick plate is measured with a high precision.
