PURPOSE:To perform uniform pressure application even when narrow transfer paper is used by using left and right springs differing in spring constant for the pressing mechanism for rollers of a pressure fixing device, and preventing the floating of rollers. CONSTITUTION:A fixing roller 19 and a pressure roller 20 are supported through bearings by a couple of upper and lower supporting bodies 15 and 16 supported pivotally on a center shaft 22 so that they are opened and closed freely. A bolt 11 is inserted into the hole on the other end of the supporting body 15 through a compression spring 14 and engaged with the supporting body 16 by screw to constitute a pressing mechanism, and the similar structure is formed on the opposite side. When narrow transfer paper is conveyed, a system empolying uniform pressure application method causes roller to slant where the paper is not present frequency. For this purpose, the spring constant of the spring 24 on the reference conveyance side L is set greater than that of the spring 14. Consequently, the floating of rollers is prevented and even narrow transfer paper is pressed uniformly. |
