The invention relates to a process for the production of a flexible, bondable, web-form covering material which is laminated with open-pore polyurethane foam, and to a corresponding covering material which is characterised in that the polyurethane foam-laminated covering material is laminated on the reverse with a 0.04 to 0.15 mm, in particular 0.06 to 0.1 mm thick film of plasticised polyvinyl chloride or vinyl chloride copolymers or polyurethane. The rear lamination prevents adhesive penetrating into the pores of the urethane foam and the resultant sticking together of the pores during further processing of the covering material.
