Angular potentiometers are coupled to the rotating assemblies on a hydraulic excavator and its shovel assembly. The measured angular values are applied via amplifiers to a calculator with a memory. The values from the memory are converted into signals for application in a predetermined programme to electrohydraulic valves controlling the work phase and work programme. The potentiometers provide actual position signals for the shovel to transfer a bulk product to a dumper vehicle. The excavator driver provides a manual input for an initial loading procedure and the calculator is then able to repeat the movements. The calculator also provides the reverse movements of the initial loading procedure to form a complete programme.
