Occasionally, large-scale electric motors are provided with an oil-cooling device for the sheet-metal container. In this case, the sheet metal container is cooled directly by means of bores and cooling oil flowing through them, or else, special cooling coils are provided, the cooling coils passing axially through the sheet-metal container. For the latter embodiment, the cooling effect is lessened by the transitional losses. In the first embodiment, considerable oil leakage must be taken into consideration, the oil running into the lowermost portion of the housing, and possibly endangering the passing generator drain. The invention provides measures for the prevention of the destruction of the insulation of the drain. These measures essentially consist in designing the flange which accepts the drains as an upwardly narrowing funnel-shaped design having bores, and above this flange a pot-shaped element is provided, which has bores in its bottom, which bores are congruent with the bores of the flange. The lateral walls of the pot-shaped element extend higher than the coil interconnections entering into the drains in the area of the pot-shaped element, and each of the bores is sealed by a sealing flange, whereby the gap between one drain and the sealing flange is sealed by means of a non-harden-ing sealing mass, and the pot-shaped element is completely filled with a casting resin.
|
