In a plug-in connection for optical fibres, a clamping device is provided which concentrically presses together the slit or unslit coupling sleeve (10) in the central region in which the end faces of the optical fibre plug (16) touch one another, as a result of which the annular air gap is brought between the outer diameter of the housing of the optical fibre plug (16) and the inner surface of the coupling sleeve (10), resulting in exact centring of the optical fibres. The radial clamping can be performed via a conical holding clamp (20, 24), it being possible for the axial displacement of the conical clamping rings (24) to be performed via a clamp nut or via the cap nuts (14) and a set of springs (26). Instead of this, it is also possible for roll members of a cap sleeve to be pressed against a conically shaped housing section of the coupling sleeve, in order to press the latter together concentrically in the middle section. <IMAGE>
