Airbags for protecting vehicle occupants are generally filled by a gas generator which operates on a pyrotechnical basis. The outlet openings of such airbags are therefore subjected to the risk of being burnt by the hot, outflowing gases. This risk is to be eliminated according to the invention by virtue of the fact that a patch is attached to the inside of the airbag, which patch has an opening which is concentric with respect to the outlet opening and has a smaller diameter than it and in that the patch is composed of a resilient material.
