1508393 Concentrating gasification coal suspensions AKZO NV 20 Feb 1976 [25 Feb 1975] 06811/76 Heading BID Aqueous suspensions of 'gasification coal' (a carbon product of defined physical properties obtained during gasification of heavy hydrocarbons with oxygen-containing gases to form carbon monoxide and hydrogen-containing mixtures) are concentrated using a travelling band expression filter apparatus wherein the coal is expressed between two endless bands, at least one of which is water perme- /able, which are together driven by a plurality of rollers and in each cycle about the rollers are turned through an angle of at least 90‹ at least 3 times. The coal suspension which may have an initial coal concentration of 0.2-10 % wt. and a final concentration of 12-25 % wt. may be subjected to a pretreatment, e.g. a flocculation step. |
