PURPOSE:In a two-phase torque converter having a power multiplier, to achieve the two-phase and the single-phase performances selectively through the operation of a connecting means, by placing a coupling means such as a clutch between the power multiplier and the output shaft. CONSTITUTION:Upon driving of a pump impeller 2 through an engine 15, a turbine blade 3 is rotated by the produced pressure oil to transmit the power through a power transmission shaft 13 and gears 11, 12 to an output shaft 14 while a first reactor 4 is rotated by the delivery oil from the turbine blade 3 to transmit through a power multiplier comprising an unilateral clutch 6, reactor shaft 7 and gears 8-10 to the output shaft 14. For the two-phase torque converter, a clutch 17 is placed between the output shaft 14 and the power multiplier. It will function in two phases when connecting said clutch 17 while it will function in single phase when disengaging the clutch 17. |
