摘要 PURPOSE:To measure automatically various elements such as an arc tooth thickness and a circular pitch of a gear, by detecting tooth-side face edge parts of the gear on a basis of the intensity of the light received by plural photosensors, which face to the side face of the gear, to measure various elements of the gear on a basis of the detection time of an optional photosensor and the rotation angle of the gear at this time. CONSTITUTION:In case of measurement for a circular pitch P, light receiving point A of photosensors 2 are determined on an optional circular radius R. A gear 1 is rotated in a constant speed, and an angle phi at which the gear 1 is rotated during the period from a time (a), when a background tooth-side face edge part is detected by photosensors 2, to a time (c), when another background tooth-side face edge part is detected again after a tooth-side face edge part background is detected, is measured. As a result, the circular pitch P is obtained in the operation processing of an operating device 5 by equation P= RXphi.
