The protective wall has a high resistance to blast and fragments and two spaced groups of panels (2,4) of sheet metal. These interlock to define the two opposite spaced faces of the wall. Diagonal panels (6) extend obliquely between the face panels and are interlocked with them and a filler material (8), concrete or asphalt, fills the space between the face panels. The diagonal panels are embedded in this fill. The diagonal panels are in a sawtooth configuration coming together at the inwardly-facing bent ends of the face panels.
