PURPOSE:To stably segment characters by discriminating the directions of bent lines of a stroke and the shape of length or the like and sharply permitting change of the arranging direction of numerals to be entered in a tablet. CONSTITUTION:Numerals entered on a tablet 1 are sampled at their pen coordinate trace for a short time from pen-down to pen-up, detected as respective strokes and stored in a stroke memory 2. Each stroke is supplied from the memory 2 to a straight line approximator 3 and the direction and length of bent lines of each stroke and the coordinate values of start and end points are supplied from the approximator 3 to characterizer 4, the characteristics of the stroke is calculated in the characterizer 4 and applied to a segmentation discriminator 5. The discriminator 5 compares the stroke with a reference stroke to logically discriminate the character segmentation. |
