PURPOSE:To attach closely a piston ring to the inner surface of a cylinder by giving a bimetal function to said piston ring to obtain a sufficient tensile force at any time without use of a tension ring. CONSTITUTION:A member 2a with a smaller thermal expansion coefficient and a member 2b with a larger thermal expansion coefficient are stacked together while placing the former outside and the latter inside, and are compressed and joined by means of a specific adhesive such as metallic sodium. According to this method, a tension ring is not required as conventional and a sufficient tensile force is obtained at any time even if a piston ring 2 is worn. The tensile force of said piston ring 2 is increased as the temperature is elevated. Therefore, a sufficient sealing property is obtained at any temperature. Since the diameter of said piston ring 2 is small during assembling, the working efficiency is desirable upon assembling said piston ring 2 to a cylinder 7. |
