The invention relates to information carriers in the form of pages or books, on which optically recognisable characters such as images, symbols, numbers or texts are provided which can be converted into corresponding audible signals. The conversion takes place following activation of allocated sensors by means of a word generator which explains or reads out the images, symbols or texts in synthesised speech.
