The invention relates to a support structure for a rod protective cap in nuclear reactors. In operating mode, the support structure elastically removes the loads which occur. In the event of an accident (fault), individual elements which are stressed beyond the limit of proportionality are plastically deformed. The accidents can be external influences or temperature faults.
