The present invention concerns the technique for the manufacture of composite materials. It relates to a process and an apparatus which make it possible continuously to deposit refractory materials, in particular boron, onto a conductive filament heated by means of the Joule effect and by means of a current produced by a high-frequency generator. It also relates to the apparatus for carrying out the said process. This new process has the advantage that it makes it possible, in particular, to obtain a fibre of high tensile strength, while at the same time maintaining a high speed of travel.
