PURPOSE:To decrease crop losses considerably and to improve the yield in hot rolling by rolling an ingot by decreasing the quantity of the metal in the rolling top section on a high temp. side when there is a temp. difference between the front and rear sides of the ingot. CONSTITUTION:An ingot having a rectangular section is heated to about 1,200 deg.C and is roughtly rolled to make a bar 1 of a thickness ts. At the front temp. T1 and rear temp. T2 of the bar 1, if T1>T2, the front side is cut diagonally at a length (l), and the metal quantity in the rolling top section on the high temp. side is decreased. When this is finish-rolled, the positions of linear flaws are concentrated at the deformed part of the preceding end and the quantity of crop losses is decreased considerably. |
