PURPOSE:To improve packing fractions by, propagating the light radiated from an optical fiber while spreading the same in a circular cone shape at the spreading angle determined by the numerical aperture of the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:The light radiated from one optical fiber of a one-dimensional optical fiber array 13 for inputting is made incident to the 1st optical medium 11 of a parallel plate shape by having the spreading conforming to the numerical aperture thereof. Since both side surfaces in the thickness direction of the medium 11 form interfaces with the 2nd optical media 12a, 12b of refractive indices lower than those thereof, the light spreading in the thickness direction reflects and propagates while satisfying total reflection conditions. The light spreading in the direction perpendicular to the thickness direction propagates while spreading without receiving any influence. Thus the light propagating in the medium 11 constitutes a sector-shaped beam. |
