PURPOSE:To make the oxygen respiration of a raw laver sufficient and suppress the stuffiness due to the mass of the laver and prevent the spoilage, by dipping the raw laver in cold seawater, draining the laver, and repeating the operations to wash bacteria from the laver. CONSTITUTION:A raw laver 1 is introduced into perforated containers 2 made of a wire net, etc. and contained in a storage tank 3. The storage tank 3 is then cooled at about 5 deg.C by a refrigerator 6, and an intermittent operating pump 10 is started up to increase the level of the seawater 5 in the storage tank 3 and suspend the raw laver 1 in the seawater 5. When the water level reaches the highest level in a siphon 11, the seawater 5 is passed through the siphon 11 and made to flow down to a water tank 4. After all the seawater 5 flows out of the storage tank 3, the raw laver 1 in the perforated containers 2 is drained and exposed to air. The pump 10 is then operated to repeat the operations to introduce the seawater 5 into the storage tank 3 and raise the water level in the storage tank 3. |
