PURPOSE:To reduce the transmission of engine vibration to the car body side by locating the primary and secondary reversing mechanisms on the output axis of a power unit for a car containing a transverse engine and returning the revolution inverted by the primary reversing mechanism to the forward revolution by means of the secondary reversing mechanism. CONSTITUTION:In a power unit 1 consisting of an engine 2, a transmission 3, a final reduction gear 4 or the like, either the output axis 5 or 5a of the final reduction gear 4 is divided into three, i.e. the first and second axes 11 and 15 and an intermediate axis 11a, and the primary reversing mechanism 12 consisting of gears 12a and 12b is located between the exes 11 and 11a. Besides, the secondary reversing mechanism 16 is positioned between the axes 11a and 15 by housing it in a casing 13 that is rotatively supported on a transmission housing 3a. A support rod 19 is protruded from the casing 13 and is mounted on the car body side through an elastic material 20 on the tip. As a result, engine vibration can remarkably be prevented from being transmitted to the car body side. |
