A beet harvester, where the beets which have been cleaned and had their tops cut off are taken by an elevator 11 up to a collecting tank 2, whose bottom consists in part of a conveyor belt 10 with an extension 9 which can swing up and form a part of one side wall and swing out to an unloading position, and in part of a tilting plate 13, which when tilted can incline the beets onto the conveyor belt. The bottom plate 13 is connected to the hinged end wall 15 in sliding manner, so that it is held against the bottom plate during its tilting movement. <IMAGE>
