This circuit of an externally-controlled forward converter reduces the maximum blocking voltages occurring on the transistors during the switching phase and permits operation with fast transistors which are operated at high currents. According to the invention, the forward converter has a relief network which consists of the series circuit of two ring-around capacitors, a ring-around inductor, a diode and a further three diodes.
