Cyclic dicyano compounds, a process for their preparation and their use for the preparation of cyclic diisocyanates

Novel cyclic dicyano compounds of the formula in which R<1> denotes hydrogen or lower alkyl and R<2> and R<3> are identical or different and stand for lower alkyl radicals, can be prepared from the corresponding bisformamides. The bisformamides are dehydrated in an inert solvent in the presence of an aqueous solution of an inorganic base using an acylating agent to give diisonitriles, which are then rearranged in an aromatic solvent. The novel cyclic dicyano compounds can be used for the preparation of cyclic diisocyanates.
