PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording medium permitting the erasion and rewriting of information recorded and capable of giving recording having good reproducibility by using a polyester as a thermoplastic resin to be contained in the recording layer of the optical recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A recording layer containing 1pt.wt. a polyester with a number average molecular weight of 20,000 or less (e.g., a condensate or co-condensate of an aliphatic dibasic acid, such as oxalic acid, succinic acid, etc., or an aromatic dibasic acid, such as isophthalic acid, terephthalic acid, etc., with a glycol, such as ethylene glycol, etc.) and 0.002-10pts.wt. a light-absorptive dye or a pigment such as carbon-black, etc., together with various additives, is coated in a thickness of 0.05mum-1mm. on a base material (e.g., of various kinds of glass or ceramics, etc.). In such an optical recording material thus obtained, uneven pits recorded by irradiation of lasers can be fused and flattened by reheating for restoration. |
