PURPOSE:To improve anti-wear and anti-seizure properties as well as to reduce the cost of the tuppet by a method wherein some particles of ceramic material are buried in the end surface of the tuppet to form a sliding surface thereof which is used in a valve driving system of an engine. CONSTITUTION:The tuppet is made such that its main body 1 is of ferrous material such as steel iron and cast iron etc. and some particles 2 of ceramic material are physically buried in an end surface of the main body 1 to form a sliding surface 3. In this case, said particles 2 are of SiC, Al2O3 and chromium carbide etc. with its mean diameter of 25mu, for example, and some particles 2 are buried in an entire end surface of the tuppet utilizing burying phenomenon caused when the end surface of the main body 1 of the tuppet is lapped. Thereby, anti-wear and anti-seizure properties of the tuppet may be improved remarkably and a cheap tuppet can be supplied. |
