In a video recorder recording two audio signals, particularly for stereo sound, the first audio signal is recorded by frequency modulation of an audio subcarrier and the second audio signal is recorded by frequency modulation of an auxiliary subcarrier which is additionally FM-modulated onto the first audio subcarrier. This reduces the bandwidth required for the audio recording and the filter complexity. <IMAGE>
