PURPOSE:To improve the power factor of an AC power source by a method wherein the ON-OFF operating period of the switching element of a cycle on the AC power source is controlled in proportion to the magnitude of an AC load current and an AC load controlling signal voltage. CONSTITUTION:The ON-OFF ratio of the switching element T3 and T2 is controlled based on a DC load current Id by converting AC voltage 1 to DC voltage and by supplying it to a DC load 4. The AC load current controlling signal voltage Visn and Visp in proportion to the current continuity rate Dc of the ON- OFF signal, which controls the switching elements T2 and T3, is generated by controlling circuits 5 and 11, and the period controlling signal Vsp which controls the ON-OFF operating period of the switching elements T2 and T3 in 1 cycle of the AC voltage, is generated in proportion to the AC load current Is and the AC load current controlling signal voltage Visn and Visp. |
