Headings E1B and E1G. ,A crash barrier consisting of highly tensional square mesh wire, fencing 16 is mechanically tensioned (e.g. by winch or tractor) during erection to a stress of about 400 kg per metre of height, the tension being maintained by securing the wire mesh at intervals to longitudinally-tensioned elements such as tables 2, 12, 13. As shown the fence-tensioning apparatus comprises a tractor-mounted device 34 coupled through a dynamometer 32 to a bar 25 carrying a row of hooks 22. The cables 2, 12, 13 pass round pulleys on posts 40, 1 and are resiliently anchored to a concrete-embedded plate 11 by spring-loaded bars 8, 41 movable in the concrete. |
