PURPOSE:To reduce noise and HC composition in exhaust gas created after start of a Diesel engine by putting a solenoid limiting resistance in a current circuit from an alternator of the Diesel engine to a glow plug so as to control supply of current for the glow plug. CONSTITUTION:When a key switch 1 is closed, the output of an inverter 12 becomes a high level. A first switch 5b is then closed to feed a large current from a battery 3, on account of which glow plugs 2a through 2d are quickly energized. When an engine then starts to run, the output of the inverter 12 is turned to a low level and the first switch 5 is thereby opened to stop the supply of the large current. With the engine idled at low speeds, a slight current runs from the neutral point of the alternator 5 through the second switch 6 to the glow lamps 2a through 2d, thus forming the after-glow. Once the engine speed exceeds a threshold level, the output of a comparison circuit 16 is inverted to a low level. Resultantly, the second switch 6 is opened, however, the third switch 7b only is kept closed so that a slighter current flows for continuing the after- glow. |
