The position pulse generator in Z-axis generates the position pulse corresponding to the removal volume of the main shaft system(7). Down-counter(22) counts the number of this generated position pulse. A circuit(32,33,34,37) is adapted to sense whether the main shaft system locates at a boundary point lying between the tool changing area and the cutting area. A circuit(23,24,25) determines the moving speed of the main shaft system when the main shaft system is located within the tool changing area.
