PURPOSE:To measure and control the distribution of cross sectional areas of a parison while the parison is being extruded, by measuring sectional areas along the length of the parison. CONSTITUTION:Marks 10 are applied on a parison 9 by a marker 8, and from the distance ls and the passing time DELTAt, the moving rate of the parison Vpd= ls/DELTAt is determined. The moving rate VI of a plunger 2 and the sectional area AI of the plunger, the sectional area of the parison Ap=AI.VI/Vpd is determined. On the other hand, the sectional area Ap of the parison can be determined by the equation Ap=(Rt.Rh)pi.DNS wherein Rt stands for the thickness swell ratio of the parison, Rh stands for the diameter swell ratio, DN stands for the nozzle diameter and S stands for the nozzle slit. The slit S can be freely controlled by the vertical positioning of a mandrel 3, and by determining the actual swell ratio (Rt.Rh), it is fed back to be used for the following extrusion, so that the sectional area of the parison can be controlled as predetermined. |
