The laser (1) illuminates the entrance pupil of the eye via the splitter cube (2). In this process, a first reflection (3) of the cornea (4) occurs. A second reflection (5) is produced on the fundus occuli (6). These two reflections interfere in the total common overlap region, and produce there an interferogram resembling a Fresnel zone, for example at the point (7). A slit (12) is arranged there in such a way that it is at right angles to the interference fringes. The slit image thus produced is projected with the aid of the optics (13) onto a photographic film (14) which moves at right angles to the slit direction. In this way, there is exposed on the film (14) a fringe system which reproduces the temporal variation of the dilatation of the eye. <IMAGE>
