PURPOSE:To produce a long-sized thin strip of good surface condition in good yields in a method of ejecting molten metal onto the surface of a rotable roll to cool the same and producing the metallic thin strip directly from the molten metal by preheating the surface of the roll prior to ejection of the molten metal. CONSTITUTION:While a roll 1 which is rotated in an arrow direction by a horizontal shaft is rotated at a low speed, the surface of said roll 1 is preheated to >=40 deg.C with burners, electric heaters, hot water showers, etc. If the roll is heated to an excessively high temp., the cooling capacity thereof decreases thus resulting in the degraded surface condition of a thin strip and decreased yield. It is therefore preferable to heat the roll at <=140 deg.C. Thereafter, the molten metal in a crucible 2 is pressurized and is ejected through a nozzle 3 onto the surface of the rotable roll 1, whereby the molten metal is cooled and a thin metallic strip 5 is produced directly. |
