PURPOSE:To improve scuffing resistance, by circumferentially extensibly providing a groove to the sliding surface of a piston ring, filling a porous plated layer to said groove and adhesively infiltrating a synthetic resin layer of polyimide or polyamide to a porous part of said plated layer. CONSTITUTION:A circumferentially extended groove 2 is formed to the sliding surface of a piston ring 1, and its corner part 3 is smoothly formed to curved shape. A porous chrome plated layer 4 of porosity factor 0.2-0.5 is formed to said groove 2, and a compound material synthetic resin 5, consisting of polyimide or polyamide contained with a carbon particle of diameter at least 1mu- 150mu, is adhesively infiltrated by the method of baking and the like under pressure to a porous part in the sliding surface. Porous chrome plating is applied to the interior of the groove, and exfoliation of the plated layer can be prevented, while the polyimide or polyamide resin, contained with graphite, is filled in the porous part, and scuffing resistance can be held for a long period. |
