Automatic adjustment means for the motor-driven height adjustment of the irradiation hood of a tanning device, in which the torque of a drive motor is transmitted to the support arms of the irradiation hood via a slip coupling and robust end stops are provided in order to delimit the pivoting range of the support arms, the end stops being formed with the aid of a gas pressure spring normally used to support the irradiation hood, the stops thereby fulfilling a double function.
