PURPOSE:To easily obtain a thick film optical integrated circuit of complex structure by sandwitching various optical elements with prescribed thicknesses between a couple of cladding layers, and injecting a transparent plastic material into their clearance and thus forming a core layer. CONSTITUTION:On a substrate 12, a thick film optical transmission line 4 is formed and a thick film pattern 18 with an injection opening 19 is provided. A multilayered film fiber 5 is set between cladding layers 13 and 14 of optical fibers 1 and 11. Then, a transparent plastic material which contains a curing agent is injected into the clearance of the optical transmission line 4 through the injection opening 19, and thick film lens-shaped media 37 and 9 are cured to form a core layer 15. Light 2 incident from the optical fiber 1 is collimated laterally through the medium 3, branched into two through the filter 5, and guided out through optical fibers 8 and 11. Thus, a thick film optical integrated circuit which requires complex constitution is formed easily by plastic injection. |
