Packing comprises braided vitreous fiber and impregnant comprising inorganic lubricant, e.g. graphite, and organic binder e.g. disposed P.T.F.E. Gasket material comprises a braided sleeve of organic and vitreous fiber, the sleeve being impregnated with dispersed P.T.F.E. or starch.
