PURPOSE:To decrease the processing time at cylinder switching, by eliminating the need for the seek time for block change, through the assignment of a change block in the final track at each cylinder. CONSTITUTION:When read/write transfer request for 2-block's share is given from a block 279, a controller gives a seek instruction to a disc device to seek the next cylinder after the end of data transfer of the block 279. After the end of seek, the detection of the final sector of the head number 0 is waited and if detected, the read/write transfer is executed from a block 280. The final block 279 of the previous cylinder is processed. Further, since the change block for a revolving time's share corresponding to the required time for the search of the seek and head block is assigned, the read/write processing for the next block 280 can be executed immediately without waiting one revolution. |
