PURPOSE:To perform the nondestrictive inspection of all of sections of a square steel throughout its length with high precision, by detecting flaws on two upper adjacent faces of the square steel throughout their length and inverting the section by 180 deg. to detect flaws on two left faces again. CONSTITUTION:A truck of a flaw detecting device which runs on rails 13 in the longitudinal direction of a square steel 1 is provided an arm 17, and flaw detecting heads 14A and 14B provided with plural probes are suspended through buffer devices 15A and 15B. The square steel 1 is carried by an inlet-side carrying device 10 consisting of many V rollers 10A, 10B- until it is brought into contact with a fixed stopper 19, and the square steel 1 is fixed, and the flaw detecting head 14A is run to detect flaws on two upper faces. After that, the square steel 1 has the section direction inverted by an inverting device 11 and is moved onto a flaw detection table 16, and the flaw detecting head 14B is run to detect flaws on two left faces throughout their length. Thus, the nondestructive inspection of all of sections of the square steel is performed without the influence of the oscillation for carrying of the square steel. |
