<p>An annular end cap common to the coaxial inner 12 and outer 10 tubes of a shock absorber comprises two separate coaxial sheet metal sleeves 20, 22. One of these 22 is a spacer sleeve which has an annular upper edge 50 for centring in the upper end of the outer tube 10 and for axial abutment against an annular shoulder 62 of the outer tube, and a cylindrical lower end part 44. The other sleeve 20, is a bush-carrier sleeve which has, adjacent its lower end, an outer radial collar 24 held between the lower end of the spacer sleeve 22 and the upper end of the inner tube 12. A tubular part 32 of the sleeve 20, situated within the spacer sleeve, constitutes a cylindrical seat in which there is retained a bush 42 of a material having a low coefficient of friction in which the shock absorber rod 16 slides. This tubular part has a fixing section 34 which is situated immediately adjacent the collar and fixingly fits into and is centred in the lower end part of the spacer sleeve 22, and a projecting section 36 which extends with circumferential clearance within the spacer sleeve 22, from the fixing section to a free upper end of the tubular part 32 itself. The bush- carrier sleeve further comprises a cylindrical peripheral skirt 30 which is situated in the interspace between the two tubes of the shock absorber and in which there is housed and centred the upper end of the inner tube 12.
