PURPOSE:To form physically developed images by adapting the phenomenon in which the physical development of metallic developing nuclei is suppressed by a diazo dye. CONSTITUTION:An image forming material A contg. a metallic compd. forming metallic developing nuclei when reduced and a compd. having a diazo group on backing 1 is subjected to pattern exposure through a transmittable original 3, so that the compd. having the diazo groups of exposed parts 2A is decomposed. This is brought into contact with a coupling agent soln., whereby a diazo dye is formed in unexposed parts 2C. Further, it is brought into contact with an aq. reducing agent soln. to generate metallic developing nuclei roughly uniformly in an image forming layer 2. When this is brought into contact with a physical developing soln., a metallic image 2B deposited by the reduction is formed in the exposed parts. If the physical developing soln. contg. a relatively strong reducing agent is used, the generation of the metallic developing nuclei and the physical development take place simultaneously. |
